Buddy

This is our farm dog, Buddy. We got him when we bought our farm. He did not come from the farm, but rather from someone in Newman Lake area who was moving and didn't want him anymore. He came with the name Buddy and we kept it. He was about 18 months old when he became part of our family and has been with us ever since. Although we do not know what kind of dog Buddy is, we think he is a Great Bernese mix, maybe even has some Boarder Collie in him. He is an awesome dog.

He has had a lot of adventures over the years. He has been blind and had his sight returned, He has meet a lot of people and had to make friends with other animals who have come to live with us. He knows a lot about our farm and the people who live here. One of the saddest days he ever had was when he went porcupine hunting and came home with quills. We got them all out for him and he never did that again.

Like a buddy, he is always with you whenever you are working. Many hours has he kept us company pruning, thinning and mowing grass or plowing. He goes on patrol at night too, keeping the coyotes away from the house, and he is really smart too.

Sometimes he played dress up with the kids.

Here you can see Little Red Riding Buddy...
Nanny Buddy
and Farmer Bud.

Buddy has aged a bit. He is now about 14 years old and he is getting gray fur around his face. He is hard of hearing and has problems seeing too, but he still barks at the fence with the other dogs and loves to hang out with people when they are working outside. He may be old, but he is still Buddy, and we love him.
